About me

My history

Before embarking on my formal music education at the conservatory, my journey with music began with the humble recorder. Taught by my beloved aunt during the first grade, I would sit by the window, playing tunes from my favorite movies and creating melodies that echoed through our house. In the second grade, my teacher proudly showcased my recorder skills to motivate older students, an experience that not only boosted my confidence but also made me feel like a musician on a concert tour.

Our family’s move to a new vibrant environment marked the beginning of my exploration with different instruments. Thanks to my father’s sacrifices and private music lessons, I delved into learning the mandolin and violin. The excitement peaked in the third grade when I encountered a piano in the theater hall of our elementary school. The magic of touching the piano keys for the first time, the enchanting harmonies, and the bewitching sounds left an indelible mark on my musical journey. Even though I couldn’t comprehend the adult listeners’ comments, this experience laid the foundation for my enduring connection with the piano.

As I entered the conservatory, the piano became an unexpected companion alongside my primary instrument, the French horn. Despite the inner voice questioning my choice, urging me to conform to the traditional path of horn playing, I found solace in the piano’s improvisational allure. The echoes of my first improvisation in the conservatory’s theater hall persisted throughout my musical career. Despite the lingering doubts, the audience’s positive feedback after my piano concerts serves as a powerful response, reinforcing the belief that my unique musical journey is worth pursuing.

The birth of face2melody

During one of my routine piano practice sessions at a community center affiliated with a local church, I stumbled upon a heartwarming scene. The church staff was wrapping up a meeting in the same hall where I was practicing. Despite the formal setting, their positive energy, warm smiles, and friendly conversations suggested the meeting’s conclusion. Their welcoming demeanor immediately drew me into a dialogue. In that moment, a long-pondered idea surfaced in my mind—an idea I had never attempted before.

In a spur of enthusiasm, I shared this idea with the church staff, envisioning it as a meaningful gift for these wonderful individuals dedicated to enhancing their environment. I proposed a unique experiment: if they were willing, I would create music for them right there and then. Intrigued, they agreed, asking, “What would you like to do?” I instructed them to gather around the piano, explaining that I intended to craft music tailored to them. As each person stood before me, a sense of connection and camaraderie unfolded. It was a magical moment as I played, glimpsing their individual stories and shared experiences. The music became a bridge, and by the time the last note faded, there were heartfelt, brotherly hugs exchanged with almost everyone.

This newfound bond through music extended beyond the physical space. Reflecting on this experience, I embarked on the Face2Melody project, an online endeavor aimed at sharing musical moments with distant loved ones. The impact of music remained palpable even through virtual connections. As I gazed at photos or interacted with loved ones online, the power of music to evoke emotions and strengthen connections became evident. The project provided a tranquil escape from the daily hustle and bustle, allowing me to channel my energy into a more serene and peaceful creative space. The recipients of this unexpected musical gift expressed joy and appreciation, underscoring the unique and special nature of the musical connection. The Face2Melody project became a testament to the enduring power of music to bring people together and create moments of shared joy.
